Our Services
Experts at Comer Children's provide a unique care experience for children with diabetes. The only clinic of its kind in Chicago, our center offers thorough diagnosis and evaluation, medical management and personalized counseling and family education.
Infants and children who suffer from poor growth face a variety of health and developmental issues. Our chronic disease care team provides expert consultation for this complex condition, which is characterized by slower than normal growth rates. This condition often frustrates families, but we can provide the knowledge and resources to help parents become actively involved in managing their child's care — and put them back in control. Proper nutrition, improved feeding techniques, medication and other therapies can make a significant difference in your child's health and development.
Many children with chronic diseases benefit from rehabilitation that takes into account their development as well as their disease. Our staff can provide inpatient and outpatient rehabilitative services for children with a variety of needs. If your child suffers from rheumatic conditions, such as juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, cerebral palsy or brain injuries, we can provide an array of options. These include physical therapy, speech therapy and family education.
Comer Children's doctors address the special needs of families affected by all types of sickle cell disease, including sickle cell anemia, sickle C disease and sickle-beta thalassemia conditions. Services such as genetic counseling, disease management and pain management are available for your child.
Some of the other services available from the chronic disease care team include:
- A pediatric incontinence clinic, run by a pediatric kidney specialist and psychologist
