At the Forefront of Medicine

The University of Chicago Medicine has continued to improve in U.S. News & World Report’s annual survey of the country’s best hospitals. Ten adult specialties were recognized as being among the best in the country in the 2024-25 annual U.S. News and World Report rankings.

The ten specialties include cancer (#12), cardiology and heart surgery (#32), diabetes and endocrinology (#30), ear, nose and throat (#11), gastroenterology and GI surgery (#25), geriatrics (#40), neurology and neurosurgery (#36), OB-gynecology (#25), pulmonology and lung surgery (#35) and urology (#36).

Sixteen high-performing procedures or conditions were also ranked: Aortic Valve SurgeryColon Cancer SurgeryCOPDDiabetesGynecological cancer surgeryHeart AttackHeart Bypass SurgeryHeart FailureHip FractureKidney FailureLeukemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma; Lung Cancer SurgeryPneumoniaProstate Cancer Surgery, Stroke; and Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR).
