Wound Care
Center for Complete Wound Care
We specialize in caring for patients who have wounds that have failed to progress with conservative wound measures in a typical timeline as well as those with chronic complex wounds that have failed in other wound centers. The impact of chronic wounds extends beyond the physical pain and discomfort, often causing individuals to experience a decline in mobility, overall health, and emotional well-being.
Without proper treatment, those with chronic wounds may face disability, an inability to work, and increased dependence on their families for care.
At UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial, we are familiar with these challenges and help our patients navigate their healing process and regain their lives again with comprehensive and state-of-the-art wound care services.
Why The Center for Complete Wound Care at UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial?
Our multidisciplinary team of wound care-certified physicians, nurses, and physical therapists works closely together to address the unique needs of each patient. During regular appointments, our physicians and nurses provide ongoing care to our wound patients, while our physical therapists treat patients two to three times per week for their wound and/or swelling needs.
To ensure seamless care, our physicians also round in the PT clinic on days when a PT patient is scheduled to visit, allowing for better management of their plan of care. This approach provides the patient with the added convenience of a single appointment time and location for multiple professional visits, saving them valuable time in their day. Additionally, vendors are available on-site to provide patients with orthotics, compression garments, and lymphedema pumps.
This further streamlines the patient experience, enabling them to meet multiple needs in one visit while ensuring that medical specialists can communicate with vendors to ensure that each patient receives the correct device.
