Digestive Diseases

There's a long tradition at the University of Chicago of outstanding care and research in digestive diseases. It goes back all the way to the beginning. One of the first eight faculty hired at the University of Chicago had an interest in digestive diseases, and that legacy has continued through the training and through the careers of some amazing and really outstanding individuals who not only cared primarily for someone who has a digestive disorder and is suffering but also really advanced the science of the field to change the way we do what we do.

And that continues right to today. We have an amazing array of specialists in all the areas of digestive diseases who are really trailblazers in thinking not only about new ways to treat disorders that we're trying to help but also thinking about how do we prevent them and how do we cure them? And the research that's going on here is world class, and the patients who come here benefit directly from that. That relationship we have with our research colleagues and in asking and answering these tough questions continues.
