Committed to Improving LGBTQ+ Health Care
At the University of Chicago Medicine, we provide care that respects and values you, just as you are. Our health care providers are trained in LGBTQ+ health so we can provide you with the best care and support, both physically and emotionally. Diversity and inclusion are at the center of our mission and values. Each day, we work to create an affirming culture and treat all patients with dignity, compassion and respect.
Our LGBTQ+ Health Care Services
We are dedicated to providing LGBTQ+ patients of all ages with many kinds of clinical and supportive services, including:
Making Inclusion a Priority at UChicago Medicine
Since 2015, UChicago Medicine has been a LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality Leader with the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC). We have earned the highest score in each section of the Healthcare Equality Index (HEI) survey, showing our inclusive practices and policies for LGBTQ+ patients, visitors, and employees.
At UChicago Medicine:
- Our clinicians and other staff complete training in LGBTQ+ patient-centered care, including courses from HRC and the Fenway Institute.
- We include sexual orientation and gender identity in our patient and employee non-discrimination policy, and many of our UChicago Medicine staff identify as LGBTQ+.
- We have policies that work to end bias and insensitivity. We aim to provide a safe and welcoming place for LGBTQ+ patients across the medical center.
