Join Us for a Meet the Midwife Tour
Discover the midwifery model of care and learn more about our philosophy of birth and labor support at our Meet the Midwife Tour. This guided experience is designed to help expectant parents understand the role of midwives in providing holistic, patient-centered care during pregnancy and childbirth.
Tour Schedule
Tours take place on the first Sunday of the month at 11:00 AM in the lobby of UChicago Medicine Comer Children’s Hospital. Our midwife begins each tour with a short introduction to midwifery care at UChicago. At 11:30 AM, the tour moves to the Family Birth Center - Hyde Park for an in-depth look at our birthing facilities.
During the tour, you will:
- Meet one of our certified nurse-midwives and learn about our approach to pregnancy, labor, and postpartum care.
- Gain insight into the benefits of midwifery-led care and how it aligns with your birth preferences.
- Visit the Family Birth Center - Hyde Park, where you’ll be guided through:
- Private triage, delivery, antepartum, and recovery suites
- Two large, private natural birthing suites with built-in warm water immersion (hydrotherapy) tubs
- Labor and delivery areas, including a look inside one of our birthing rooms
- Operating rooms designed to support a cesarean birth, when necessary
This interactive experience offers expectant parents an excellent opportunity to ask questions, connect with our midwifery team, and feel more prepared for their childbirth journey.
