Lung Transplant Expertise & Compassionate Care

At the University of Chicago Medicine, we have experience in all aspects of lung transplantation, from donor-recipient organ matching and ECMO (bridge to transplant) to surgery and recovery. Our lung transplant surgeons work alongside our pulmonologists and other experts to provide research-driven care for you and your family. Together, we treat a variety of lung conditions, including advanced emphysema, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cystic fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency and pulmonary fibrosis.

We offer all types of lung transplant, including single-lung, double-lung and multiorgan transplants. Through our collaborative, team approach, we are optimizing care standards and improving outcomes — even with the extremely complex, high-risk cases we treat. We have also developed a patient-centered care and support system to best serve our patients and their families.
