MyChart E-Visits: Online Diagnosis and Treatment

Save a Trip with an E-Visit

Our e-visit service, available through MyChart, lets you connect with UChicago Medicine clinicians and receive some medical services without visiting in person.

E-visits are available for:

• Cough
• Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) – direct-to-lab screening
• Urinary tract infection (UTI)
• Vaginitis (vaginal discharge)

Who Can Use E-Visits?

To use this service, you must:

• Be 18 or older
• Be a UChicago Medicine patient located in Illinois
• Have had a visit at DCAM Primary Care Clinic within the past 3 years or DCAM Gynecology Clinic within the past year

How Do E-Visits Work?

E-visits are submitted through your MyChart account. You’ll fill out an online questionnaire about your symptoms, and a clinician will review your answers and respond via MyChart within one business day (Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.).

If your condition needs an in-person visit, your e-visit will be canceled and you will not be charged.

E-Visit Billing

If you have insurance, make sure it’s saved to your MyChart account. We’ll bill your insurance, and you’ll get a statement for any remaining balance, which you can pay through MyChart.

If you don’t have insurance or are self-pay, you may be charged up to $113 based on the complexity of the service. A temporary hold of $113 will be placed on your card during the e-visit process but will only be charged after a clinician completes the review. Final charges typically range from $43 to $113. If your e-visit is canceled, you won’t be charged.
